KALA 2024 Day 1

Event(s): Pencil Art and Non-Competitive Talent Show (Mimicry and Monoact)
When – Feb 24th, 2024 2 PM – 6 PM
Where – Eagle Street Facility, Community Room, 7272 S. Eagle St, Centennial, CO, 80112
Check-in – Check-in starts at 2PM.
Note – Parents are requested to wait at the venue after checking the participants in.

Guidelines: Pencil Art

1. Topic & Age – Participants between the ages of 5 and 12 as of October 1st,2023, will be divided into two age groups: 5 to 8 and 9 to 12.
   ⮚ For the 5-8 age group, the topic for ‘Pencil Drawing’ competition will be:
   My Favorite Storybook Character: Have them draw their beloved characters from storybooks.
   ⮚ For the 9-12 age group, the topic for ‘Pencil Drawing’ competition will be announced on the spot.
   Shortlisted topics for this group are:
   1. Enchanted Garden: Create a magical garden filled with flowers, fairies, and friendly creatures.
   2. Space Explorers: Imagine adventures in outer space with astronauts, planets, and rockets.
   3. Under the Sea Adventure: Dive into the depths of the ocean with sea life and underwater scenes.
   4. Environmental Conservation: Depict scenes that highlight the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability.
2. Supplies – We’ve got you covered! We’ll be providing all the supplies you’ll need, including drawing sheets, pencils, and erasers. Just make sure to only use supplies provided by KAOC.
3. Duration –
   5 – 8 age group: The duration will be 30 minutes for this group.
   9-12 age group: The duration will be 60 minutes for this group.
4. Judging Criteria (including but not limited to)
   1. Interpretation of the theme and representation of the artwork.
   2. Creativity and originality of the composition.
   3. Clarity & neatness of the artwork, surface and background.
   4. Overall presentation of the finished artwork.
5. The decision of the judges will be final and irrevocable.

Guidelines: Mimicry and Monoact (Non-Competitive)

1. Participant Count – Performances must be solo.
2. Age – Participants should be between 5 and 12 years of age as of October 1st,2023.
3. Duration – The maximum time duration for each performance is 4 minutes.
